World’s Rarest Pink Diamonds Visit China
In February 2012, the largest pink diamond ever found in Australia was unearthed at the Rio Tinto Argyle Mine, Western Australia. The 12.76-carat Argyle Pink Jubilee find was unprecedented and is valued at over US$10 million. This particular diamond has been bequeathed to the Melbourne museum, but diamonds from the same mine will be offered for tender in China shortly.

Pink diamonds are the rarest diamonds in the world, and 90% of the world’s pink diamonds come from the Argyle mine, often selling at prices of US$1 million per carat. Yet with the Argyle Mine only expected to be operational for another ten years, pink diamonds will become increasingly rare and valuable.

This Autumn as part of the annual Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, 50–60 of the top pink diamonds in the world will be showcased at private showings in Beijing, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai and New York.
