I have owned and flown my Islander for going on four years. I have flown it for approximately 650 hours. For the last twenty years I have been flying mostly turbines and jets. I sold my MU-2 in order to purchase the Islander. We own and operate the airplane in a commercial operation and find it to be easy to fly- forgiving- easy and not expensive to maintain and most importantly perfect for our mission. Its ability to carry a load is awesome. Shooting the approach at 70 knots took a little getting used to but its slow speeds on the ground save much on brakes. Im frequently asked by the tower to exit at the first taxiway and in this airplane that is a non event. We rarely use the brakes for anything other than ground maneuvering. I highly recommend this model to anyone looking for a load hauler so long as youre not covering long distances. She is slow- 130 knots is our normal cruise.
