How to Order Bespoke Tool Kits

Creating a tool kit to perfectly fit a mechanic's needs is now easier than ever. With Red Box’s tool kit design service, your tool kit can be designed and have it routed into shadow foam in no time at all.

Customers can choose from a range of over 20,000 individual tools on Red Box Tools' website, choose the case, cabinet or trolley that best suits their needs, and the Red Box team will do the rest. An in-house design team will take a newly generated tool list and create a design that fits into Shadow Foaming layers. Once the customer is happy with the design of the kit, it will be produced.

    Why Use Shadow Foaming?

Shadow Foaming is becoming essential for tool control, by creating these foam inserts, not only does it keep tools safe, it clearly indicates when a tool is missing from a kit. Each foam layer has a black top layer and a coloured lower layer.

The Red Box Tools routing machine will cut into the layers to create a slot for each tool. Once this is done the coloured layer beneath is left behind which allows the customer to clearly see if a tool is missing.

The Shadow Foaming process is simple and can be done one of three ways:

    • Send the tools to Red Box Tools, who will scan and create a design for customer approval.
    • Red Bot Tools can visit the customer and scan their tools on site.
    • Red Box Tools can send a drawing pack for customers to scan the tools themselves, send the scans back, and Red Box will then do the design.

Once a design has been made and approved, the routing process begins.

Foam routing and Shadow Foaming is for much more than just tools. Shadow Foaming can be used to organised many other items.

(For example, the Red Box team has created foam layers for personalised gifts, such as the Jerry Can drinks holders, layers for manicure sets and layers to hold important and delicate machinery.)

The Importance of Etching Your Tools

For extra tool control or simply to personalise tool kits, the Red Box Team also offers a laser etching service, allowing customers to have a personal number, word, pattern or even message on your tools. This comes in very useful when tool control is concerned, such as helping to identify which tool belongs to which kit.

Each engineer can be assigned a personal code, which then can be etched onto each tool in the kit, therefore making it easy to identify to whom a tool belongs.
