You can find performance specifications, reviews, and other information online, but what better way to find out how an aircraft really flies than hearing it straight from the mouth of somebody who’s flown it.

And, oh my goodness, pilots talk.

The only thing they like to talk about more than aircraft performance tends to be some of the crazy adventures aviation has afforded them. Over the years of being inside the private aviation industry, I’ve heard some pretty interesting things.

"From Charles Barkley’s penchant for fast food chilli on flights to how one pilot single-handedly saved 15,000 South Sudanese boys from becoming child soldiers by flying them out of refugee camps as he was flying in relief supplies."

As an aviation professional with a journalism degree, it’s high time I open my contact list and allow others a peek into the fascinating world of private aviation. In April 2019, I’ll be introducing The Insiders' Guides with René Banglesdorf, a podcast and video series available free of charge online. Over the course of 2019, I will conduct interviews with pilots who have experienced flying the most popular private aircraft in the industry, including jets, turboprops and helicopters from Gulfstreams to Caravans and everything in between. We will publish a new video every Thursday starting this week.

I’ll start out each interview going over performance specifications, operational limitations, maintenance idiosyncrasies, upgrades they like, fuel burn, luggage capacity, the toughest runways for the model—and what the passengers say about it. I’ll probably ask if they’ve heard of any other pilots having problems with the model (not assuming they’ve had problems themselves, of course).

Then I’ll take a personal turn and ask about their own adventures, struggles, challenges and victories with private aviation, whether it’s a vocation or a hobby. I’ll dig into any challenges they’ve experienced with training, what triggered their love for aviation, and even talk about their scariest moment in the cockpit. I’ll definitely ask about the most interesting people or wildest cargo they’ve flown. And you better believe I’ll ask about what they are doing to encourage younger people to gain their wings.

The Insiders' Guides with Rene Banglesdorfwill provide prospective buyers and aviation enthusiasts alike with first-hand information about the performance capabilities and ownership logistics of the world’s most popular private aircraft straight from the source – the mouths of the world’s most interesting pilots.

"Hopefully, the information provided in these interviews will save you time and money in the long run, ensuring that you get the right plane for your mission. At the very least, I think you’ll find it entertaining!"

If you’d like to nominate an interesting pilot for an interview, email keith@wepushtin.com. If you have a question about a particular model, you can send it to the same place. See you online!
