Embraer announced the Legacy 650 in 2009, adding more range over the Legacy 600 that it evolved from. Providing greater fuel capacity and utilizing upgraded Rolls-Royce AE3007/A2 powerplants, the Legacy 650 ultimately also delivers an improved climb rate, higher speed and higher operating weights than the original model.

In the years following Legacy 650 certification in 2011, Embraer upgraded the model again as the Legacy 650E. The Legacy 650E began deliveries in 2017, so buyers in the market for an Embraer Legacy 650 will be shopping the pre-owned marketplace.
